FOOD PRESERVATION FOR DRINKERS

Make incredible drinks for a fraction of the cost by learning how to manipulate both fresh and dried ingredients in this one-of-a-kind workshop. Master Food Preserver Delilah Snell will take you on an adults only food preservation tour using alcohol and making things for drinks so you can be the host with the most! Course will include a fruit liquor, coffee liquor, bitters and a pickle cocktail garnish that we will can on-site. In addition to recipes and take-home samples of each item, Delilah will also be serving up cocktails & appetizers made from her root cellar. This is the perfect class for gift making and entertainers!

ADVANCED PICKLE COURSE

Travel around the world in this intense and tasty pickle workshop. Master Food Preserver and Backyard in a Jar owner Delilah Snell will guide you in this unique preservation workshop that will cover lacto-fermentation, vinegar, cured and canning pickle techniques that will leave you with a basket of unique goods that will impress even the toughest critics. This workshop is entirely hands on and covers 7 recipes, take-home jars of every recipe, a lacto-fermentation kit (class covers how to use the kit), take-home recipes, food safety and samples of all items while we work.

RECIPES COVERED: sauerkraut (german), kimchi (korean) escebche (Mexican), Gajar Ka Achar (Indian), gerkin (French), chowchow (Southern-US), preserved lemons (middle east).

TOMATO PRESERVATION

Learn the essentials of home food preservation while savoring the peak of tomato season! Master Food Preserver, Delilah Snell will be teaching a hands-on, small class on tomato canning using a variety of peak fruit from local markets. The class will involve an heirloom tomato discussion and tasting, canning whole tomatoes, a savory sauce and a hot tomato jam in addition to other tomato-saving techniques. Canned goods, recipes and snacks are included-you just need an apron and a hearty appetite!

HOLIDAY GIFT MAKING/PRESERVING

This class is geared to produce as many gifts as possible while teaching the fundamentals of home food preservation.  Be prepared to get to work!

Students will make a number of recipes for either large-group gift giving to more intricate gifts. Some recipes include: jelly trio, spice packs, hot sauce and cocktail items.  In addition to receiving all recipes, students will also receive packaging/presentation/wrapping items, recipe cards for tags, snacks while we work and enough items to gift at least 10 people as soon as you head out the door!
